Drove through the bank drive-thru and second year in a row this sign was posted and it thoroughly pissed me off! Not by the reason you might think.
That’s right…I’m not politically correct. And I think society is full of soft, weak-minded, easily offended sissies. Everyday bombarded by “this offends me” or “you can’t say that anymore” or “you don’t understand the suffering or what we go through”. Okay, I am sorry if you PERSONALLY experience any injustice, discrimination, hardship…PERSONALLY! I have, who hasn’t. Nobody is unscathed; everyone has lived through harassment, or bullying, or discrimination to some degree. But this, “oh our community has endured so much”, or “our people have suffered for hundreds of years”…ok, that was centuries ago and yes, it still happens in some levels in modern times. And yes, I I agree that there has been alot, ALOT of blood shed and total mistreatment of people, which is horrible. However, that’s the way it has always been, since caveman, since biblical times, and will continue in the future. There is war, and violence, and some group is always trying to rise to power, to control others whether it’s conquering land, controlling their mindset, their economy, or whatever their motives may be. That will never change…ever!
So what has gotten me in an uproar this time…not the sexual harassment training I had to take to please NY State..that too, was a ridiculous 45 minute waste of a video and time. I have tried to find that video so I could share but I don’t want you to lose valuable time watching that crap. No…today it’s about Columbus Day Or now what some are calling Indigenous Peoples day…wait…what?! I know, you say, “well, what’s wrong with that”, “Columbus really didn’t discover America”… “And he was a mean brutal bastard”… Here’s my point: it was made a national holiday by FDR back in 1937. If you want to change it, make it official. Ok, so Presidents Day is a national holiday. But we’ve had quite a few presidents abuse their position like with any sexual harassment they have put upon women…yes, we all know! So I want Presidents day to be called Women Empowerment Day…why not, we’ve had many women through hundreds of years I’m sure(because boys will be boys…oh, that’s wrong now too isn’t it) that have endured mistreatment by our presidents. Oh come on now, that is just absurd to call it that; how stupid.. YES, my point exactly! If you want to celebrate Native Americans, go for it, get your own different day. Don’t take over one because of all “the suffering” the Indians, (yes Indians, can’t say that anymore either)had when Europe realized this land was here and literally invaded; started to take it over. Surprise! Of course they did, cuz that what mankind has done for centuries. Conquer land.. And they colonized…OMG…if they didn’t then we all wouldn’t be here! It’s that simple. So get your own day, I don’t care…you should! And if people don’t like “Columbus Day” then change it to something like Discovery America Day or We Found America Day because it’s really not about the man in most of our view but about the finding of the land. But make it official. Yeah, this land was stumbled upon by most of our ancestors and we wouldn’t have this life had it not started somewhere..by someone. Heck, if it never happened, I wouldn’t be here. I’m mixed ethnicities so I nor many people would even exist. And then I hear the Italian Americans are bothered by this Indigenous thing because Columbus was Italian and it takes away from their heritage…what?! What is wrong with everyone! Everyone needs to have their own special day…OK, we acknowledge that everyone is special! Now sit down and shut up because frankly I don’t want to hear all the whining from every damn group, race, religion, organization that wants to feel loved, special or get out their agenda. Here’s an agenda: Live your life! There will always be oppression, biases, prejudices and if you need to fight for your right then hell ya, get it! But not everything, everyday needs to be a war against or for something. It just gets to be too much!
